There is a network of footpaths and bridleways in the parish, which combined with nearby Aylesbeare Common and Woodbury Common makes it ideal for horse riding and walking.
AYLESBEARE TABLE TENNIS CLUB
Why not join our table tennis sessions held in the Village Hall from 7.30pm to 9.00pm on Tuesday evenings during the winter months? This is usually from September to April. There is no league affiliation but the evenings are always enjoyable and energetic. Players from other local parishes are especially welcome. Contact Neil Lindup 01395 232225.
AYLESBEARE WI
This friendly group meets every third Wednesday of the month at Aylesbeare Village Hall at 7.30pm - each meeting combines a short business section (usually arranging outings and social events) with an interesting speaker, a break for refreshments (more than just a biscuit and a cuppa) and a social time. Ladies of all ages are welcome - the current President joined the WI when she was 15!
The subscription for 2010 is £29.50 which gives members the chance to participate in events and courses run by the Devon Federation as well as the WI nationally. All members receive the magazine WI life. There is a chance to vote on Resolutions which, hopefully, can influence the government of the day.
Aylesbeare WI's programme for 2010 is as follows:
20th January - National Trust - Putting the House to Bed.
17th February - Willow Work
17th March - Driving Safer Longer - AN OPEN MEETING STARTING AT 6.30PM
21st April - The Isles of Scilly
19th May - Resolutions + Surprise Speaker
16th June - Your eyes and you
21st July - Birthday Meeting
15th September - From Carthorse to Computer
20th October - Annual Meeting
17th November - Shelter Box
6th December - Christmas Crackers
There are also various social coffee mornings, lunches and skittles evenings which members attend. All in all this is a very friendly group and would love to welcome some new ladies to join, or re-join us. For further details ring either Jane Cooper 01404 813570 or Liz Goodwin 01404 823037.
